Johanna Ortiz

Johanna Ortiz, a native of Cali, Colombia, has built her namesake brand on the beauty of her homeland and the power of women. What began in 2003 as a small swimwear collection has grown into a global luxury lifestyle brand, spanning ready-to-wear, resort, accessories, and home. Producing over 60,000 pieces annually, Johanna Ortiz is sold in 20+ countries through top retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue, Net-a-Porter, and Bergdorf Goodman. In 2024, she opened her flagship store on Madison Avenue, with seasonal locations in Bal Harbour and Cartagena. A champion of social change, Ortiz employs over 460 people—78% of them women, many of whom are heads of households. Her "Escuela Johanna Ortiz" trains at-risk individuals in couture-level seamstress skills, impacting over 130 people. She also collaborates with 23 indigenous communities, supporting 260+ artisans while preserving traditional crafts. Ortiz made history as the first Latin American designer to collaborate with both H&M and Nespresso. Her work extends to partnerships with Goop, AERIN, Tabitha Simmons, and Schumacher, and she co-authored Cartagena Grace for Assouline’s travel series. Recognized by BoF 500 since 2017 and praised by Vogue, Ortiz received Elle Spain’s 2023 "Fashion Designer" award for her contributions to the industry. Inspired by Latin America’s biodiversity and the resilience of women, she infuses her designs with bold prints, vibrant colors, and exquisite craftsmanship—embodying exuberant elegance on the global fashion stage.
